Dear beloved sister Alice Wamburi,
It is with profound joy and a spirit of celebration that I send this message of commendation as you launch your Anti-GBV Initiative, "A New Dawn: Blossoming Beyond Abuse," and officially inaugurate the Blossom Beyond Abuse Foundation.
Alice, your journey is a living testament to the truth found in Isaiah 61:3, which promises "to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair." You have not only traded your ashes for beauty, but you are now reaching back to ensure others can do the same.
A Testament of Resilience and Faith:
Your story is one of remarkable courage. To face the darkness of domestic violence and emerge not just a survivor, but a victor, requires a faith that is anchored in the Rock of Ages.
I especially want to commend your unwavering commitment to your family. Your resilience in:
1. Overcoming the trials of domestic abuse.
2. Securing custody of your two sons against the odds.
3. Successfully relocating them from Kenya to the USA.
4. Working tirelessly to provide them with a full and supportive life.
These are not just personal victories; they are a reflection of Philippians 4:13: "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Your life proves that with God, no valley is too deep to climb out of and no horizon is too far to reach.
A Beacon for the Diaspora and Beyond:
By establishing this foundation in Washington, you are providing a critical bridge for the Kenyan Diaspora and the global community. You are transforming your personal pain into a public platform for healing, justice, and empowerment. We wish you had established the platform while you were here in Arizona but the LORD's timing and location is the best.
As you bring together leaders and advocates, remember the strength of your own message: “Together, we rise. Together, we blossom and rise beyond abuse.” This echoes the biblical principle that we are better together, and that a cord of three strands is not easily broken.
Closing Prayer and Blessing:
Alice, may the Blossom Beyond Abuse Foundation be a sanctuary for the brokenhearted and a catalyst for systemic change. May God grant you continued wisdom as Founder and CEO to lead with grace and authority.
Your brethren in Arizona, celebrate you, honor your strength, and stand with you as you usher in this "New Dawn."
Blessings,
Rev. John Wesley Nguuh

The human cost of geopolitical conflicts often goes unreported, so it's important to shine a light on how many Kenyans in the diaspora are being affected by the situation in the Middle East. 400,000 is a staggering number and their anxiety is completely understandable. Thank you for keeping this story in the spotlight.

I've seen this play out with friends in the diaspora - the stress of balancing careers and family obligations across continents is real, do you think community support groups could be part of the solution?

One of the most sensitive—and increasingly common—sources of conflict is what happens when a wife begins to earn more money or attains higher education than her husband,

I'm intrigued by the Kikuyu captives in Ottoman Turkey - what happened to them after they were taken captive? 🤔
