Signs TV Kenya was formed in 2011 operating on a social enterprise model with the main objectives being to educate, inform and entertain in sign language by extension enhancing Disability and the Deaf Culture.
In 2015 we applied to the Communication Authority of Kenya to run a television station broadcasting in Sign Language and were granted; we are now broadcasting effective February 2017 on free to air platform as Signs TV and offer publicity in terms of advertisements, documentaries and general partnerships to organizations at very affordable rates.
Signs TV has been broadcasting free content in sign language since 2017 with a central mission to build cultural bridges, remove barriers, eliminate stigma and create a society that allows free interaction between persons with disabilities (PWD) and non-PWDs.
Signs TV is also playing a crucial role in the response to the global pandemic by collaborating with the government and partners to analyze the challenges faced by PWDs in light of COVID-19, while highlighting solutions, which include providing virtual interpreters in hospitals, universities and places of employment.
